Sol

New York, NY
Work in progress. ︎
This solar-powered drawing machine reflects the poetics of the Earth's orbit around the sun. It takes one year for the drawing to achieve completion. The pen attached to the aluminum rod draws a line that, in the end of the one-year cycle, will finish a circle.
The mechanism represents and maintain the same sun-related dependence as everything in the planet that yields for movement. The beginning of the cycle is marked by a solstice or equinox, emphasizing the relation it has with the solar system and all its consequences.
